Anna recently underwent breast reduction surgery with consultant breast surgeon Adam Critchley. Anna has opened up about her positive experience of having this procedure under the care of Adam and his team, how they supported her throughout her recovery, and why she would recommend Adam’s services.
Name: Anna
Procedure: Breast reduction
Why did you decide to undergo breast surgery?
I had been unhappy with my large breasts for decades. Bras and swimwear were expensive, clothes never fitted well and I had ongoing back and neck problems. I felt like a walking pair of boobs and when I hit menopause and started getting nerve pain down my arm, I decided enough was enough and I needed to get a reduction.
Why did you choose Adam Critchley as your breast surgeon?
I did a lot of research into surgeons in the Newcastle area.
I shortlisted Adam because of his clinical experience working with women with breast cancer. I liked the information on his website, including the before and after pictures, and I thought he had a friendly face! I also looked at the reviews he had received on doctify.com and found they were really positive.
In person he was professional, clear, honest and trustworthy. Adam was happy to answer my many questions and he reassured me about concerns I had.
How was your initial consultation with Adam Critchley?
Adam was professional, clear, honest and trustworthy. He was unhurried and happy to answer my many questions, providing clarity about the procedure and reassurance around concerns I had.
What was your experience like on the day of surgery with Adam Critchley and his team?
I felt well prepared for the day of surgery as we knew what to expect, so there weren’t too many surprises. As this was my first operation I was very nervous and the nursing staff were fantastic at putting me at ease. Everything went smoothly and my partner was kept really well informed, which we appreciated.
How was the recovery after your surgery?
Recovery was smooth, I didn’t experience any complications.
What advice would you give to someone else considering breast surgery?
I genuinely wish I had done this years ago. For the first time in my life, my breasts aren’t hindering me and I am happy with their appearance. The boost in self-esteem, reduced pain and improved quality of life is well worth the expense and initial discomfort of the operation.
