Name: Lauren

Procedure: Breast reduction

Lauren has shared her experience of undergoing breast reduction surgery with Adam Critchley and his team. She opens up about why she chose Adam Critchley to be her surgeon, how informative her initial consultation was with him, how Adam’s team put her at ease on the day of surgery, and how seamless her recovery from breast reduction surgery was.

Why did you decide to undergo breast surgery?

Breast reduction surgery is something I have thought about for a number of years. As a teenager my bust grew quite rapidly and I was very self conscious and uncomfortable. In turn this led to poor posture and the want to hide my bust. After loosing nearly five stone in weight my bust was still large but had also become very droopy. I hated seeing myself and was uncomfortable in my own skin. I therefore decided now was the time to look at surgery.

Why did you choose Adam Critchley as your breast surgeon?

When I met Mr Critchley I felt comfortable and reassured. He went through each stage of the process and talked through what I wanted to achieve and how we could do it.

How was your initial consultation with Adam Critchley?

My initial consultation was very thorough and informative. We discussed why now was the right time for surgery, what was involved, the technique Mr Critchley would use as well as the care and what my goals were.

What was your experience like on the day of surgery with Adam Critchley and his team?

Surgery day was smooth and calm. I arrived at The Nuffield, was booked and settled in. I was introduced to my lovely nurse and prepared for surgery. Mr Critchley came and spoke to me to talk me through what would happen before, during and after surgery. Overall the day was comfortable, calm and quite relaxing!

How was the recovery after your surgery?

My recovery was excellent. I had minimal time off work with very little pain or discomfort.

What advice would you give to someone else considering breast surgery?

I recommend doing your research and speaking to your surgeon to make sure you’re comfortable with them. Ask lots of questions if you feel the need to and be honest with what you’re looking for. Most of all though don’t hold off and wait for another day. I wish I hadn’t waited as long!
