At Adam Critchley Breast Surgery, we understand that navigating pricing and procedure options for breast surgery can sometimes be overwhelming and confusing.
For North East breast surgery provided by Adam and his team, one of the key differences in our fee structure is based on whether your surgery is carried out as a day case or involves an overnight hospital stay.
Here’s a breakdown to help you understand the differences in prices and the surgery options available as day cases or those that require an overnight stay.
Day Case Surgery
Day case surgery means you are discharged by Adam from hospital on the same day as your breast procedure. This is suitable for patients undergoing straightforward surgery who are fit and well enough to recover safely at home with the right aftercare support from Adam and his team.
Day case pricing is significantly lower than that of surgery with an overnight stay, because it does not include hospital overnight accommodation, inpatient nursing care, or extended post-operative monitoring.
*Please note that day case prices are only offered for breast augmentation, mastopexy, and augmentation mastopexy procedures. Not all patients are suitable for day case surgery. Your suitability will be assessed during your consultation with breast consultant Adam, where he will provide expert guidance on which type of surgery and recovery is the safest and most suitable for you.
Overnight Surgery
Overnight surgery involves staying at the hospital for at least one night after your breast surgery procedure.
This is often required for more complex surgeries, procedures involving a higher level of post-operative monitoring, or when patient safety and comfort are better managed in a clinical setting.

Probably not – and that’s for good reason.
Having your surgery performed by a highly experienced and specialised consultant surgeon like Adam Critchley means a higher level of care, which can come at a slightly higher cost. Additionally, all procedures are carried out at the Nuffield, a fully equipped private hospital with 24/7 on-site medical support, anaesthetists, and nursing staff.
All surgical patients are offered an overnight stay in a private en suite room with doctors and nurses available around the clock. If the unexpected were to occur after surgery, you would be most likely managed by the same team in the same hospital and not sent to a local NHS Emergency Department.
However, we also recognise that not all patients require an overnight stay. For suitable procedures and patients, we offer a selection of day case surgeries at significantly lower prices, while still maintaining the same high clinical standards.
If you’re eligible for a day case procedure, this will be discussed with you at your initial consultation with Adam. Please contact us to book your initial consultation.
In the vast majority of cases, surgery performed for cosmetic benefit is not covered by the NHS.
Patients who have or have had breast cancer may qualify for reconstruction surgery on the NHS.
Some patients with mental health / wellbeing issues or problems such as significant breast asymmetry may also qualify but this should be discussed with your surgeon.
We want you to feel fully informed and confident in your decision-making. There are several trusted sources and helpful guides available.
